• Youth must be aged 10-17 years, be able to stay off drugs and
alcohol, be willing and emotionally able to participate in the
program.
• The program is operated out of a three-bedroom home in a
residential area, not an institutional setting.
• Since many of the youth who stay at Your House South have
experienced chaos and instability in their homes, Your House
South provides stability and consistency by requiring residents
to participate in chores and follow the house rules.
• Counseling is provided in English and Spanish. Each week the
family participates in two family sessions, and the youth
participates in one individual and several group sessions.
Together, the family improves their communications, sets
appropriate and clear boundaries, and develops effective
parenting skills.
• Educational groups for the youth are held each week, and cover
topics such as health, AIDS/STD'S, anger management, drugs
and alcohol, and multi-cultural issues.
• All of Your House South residents are required to attend school.
Resident counselors provide supervision and assist during
study hours each evening.
• After a youth completes the program, the family may return to
Your House South for additional counseling sessions. Our staff
also provides ongoing support through a 24-hour hotline that
youth and families can call anytime they need additional
support, guidance or referrals.
Your House South Fees:
San Mateo County is a major funder of the program.
Fees are charged on a sliding scale basis, depending on
the family's ability to pay. The initial intake appointment
